Just as birth and postpartum doulas support parents through encouragement, advocacy, information, and suggestions for change, I recognize that people often will need these services during other transitional periods of life. Going back to work once your postpartum period has ended can be challenging, changing careers, balancing work/school/family, empty nesting, divorce/separation, the loss of a partner, and periods of high anxiety or depression are all times when you need a sister the most.
